About Remek Vizslas

Our journey into Vizslas began in 1997.  We wanted a hunting breed, met some Vizslas, did some research and on October 25, 1997, littermates Maks and Remy joined our household.

Maks and Remy were supposed to be 'just pets'.  However, we learned about and joined the Show Me Vizsla Club and Skip became interested in hunting again.  Watching my dogs run full bore through a field and stop on a dime when they scented birds hooked me.  Somewhere around here we lost control!  It started as hunting training and hunt tests.  Sounds innocent enough doesn't it?

Maks passed away in August of 1999, the victim of epilepsy.  He is the reason we are advocates of the Canine Epilepsy Study and every dog we own or breed is entered in it.

After losing Maks we did a lot of research into breeders and Satch came to us from Snow Ridge Vizslas.  Satch was our experimental dog, we learned about the show ring and field trials with him.  Luckily he forgave us.  Abby joined us in 2001 and we made the total commitment to field trials, we bought horses and a trailer.  The 80 acres came later.

We whelped our first litter in July, 2004.  What an amazing, and exhausting, experience that was.  Luckily they all went to good homes and several have been successful in competition.

Someone has said that a Vizsla is not a dog, it is a way of life.  We have found this to be true.  The red guys just take over your heart and home.

Our Goal

Our goal at Remek Vizslas is to produce healthy, versatile Vizslas.  Our emphasis is on  the dual Vizsla, one of correct conformation that excels in the field.  The drive and trainability that produce top field dogs can easily be directed towards other pursuits such as agility and obedience.

Where are we?

We are located a half-hour west of the western edge of Kansas City in McLouth, KS.  We live on 80 acres which we share with 2 horses, the dogs and several coveys of quail.
